Replace Cell Values

The Replace Cell Values activity allows you to change the content of a cell when working with Microsoft Excel tables.

Activity settings

To open the settings window, click on the activity on the process diagram.

Parameters Tab

The Parameters tab displays the basic activity parameters.

Name. The activity name on the process diagram. Its name is set by default when adding the activity. You can change the name in this field.

Path to Excel file. The Excel file location in the file system. When specifying the path, you can use process context variables that store the path or a part of the path. Click on the specify-variable-icon icon and specify the variable. You can select it from the list or add a new one by clicking Create parameter. This field supports only the String type variables. The value is inserted as {$variable name}. You can fill in the field manually following this format. For more information about context variables, see Process context.

Get sheet by. Define how to select the sheet in the Excel file where you want to replace the cell value:

  • Number. In the Sheet number field, specify the number of the sheet in the Excel file;
  • Name. In the Sheet name field, specify the name of the sheet in the Excel file.

Search. Enter the cell value you want to change.

Replace with. Enter the value that will be added into the cell instead of the previous one.

When indicating the number, the sheet name, or the cell value, you can use values of the context variables. Click on the specify-variable-icon icon and specify the variable. You can select it from the list or add a new one by clicking Create parameter. This field supports only the String type variables. The value is inserted as {$variable name}. You can fill in the field manually following this format.

Match case. If you want to use case sensitivity when searching for a cell value, select Yes.

Match entire cell contents. If you want to find values of cells which completely match the entered characters, choose Yes. If you select No, the results will include values with partial matching.

Replace all. Choose Yes to replace every occurrence. Select No if you want to replace only the first match.
